Portents and Changes
Mar. 13th, 2003 09:19 amWell, the UNT Health Science Center, like many state institutions is having it's share of problems related to the required budget cuts demanded by the state. Back in January, they laid off 20-30 employees and an announcement last week by the Pres. of the Univ. to the Texas Senate has said they're looking at laying off around 160+ more this coming September.
With the new EIS system (to service UNT-Denton, UNTHSC-Fort Worth, and UNT-Dallas) coming along so well, I can see the writing on the wall as our existing system is replaced first quarter of 2004 and my services are no longer required. Everything I do here can and will be done from the main computing facility in Denton.
So, when three(3) PA-III positions opened up at UNT Denton, I applied for and was offered one of them, thereby insuring continued employment for at least another decade and new challenges as I take on responsibility for the administration of the entire student information system - in PeopleSoft.
Please be aware, then, that I have temporarily unsubscribing from all of the Yahoo Groups, etc. of which I am a member and/or moderator, and may disappear form LJ for a while ... until a new computer account and email address goes into effect April 1st. I'll miss you all, but I'll be back as soon as I can. I can still be reached via rblake@hsc.unt.edu through the end of this month.

Still - it's a future for me.
