Fifteen Minutes of Fame
Aug. 15th, 2008 07:46 amOkay – so last fall WRR Classical 101 asked listeners to write in about their memories of the station, what they liked about it, etc., etc. so I wrote them about growing up listening to classical music at home, especially listening to WRR at home on the new console stereo my father bought when we moved to Texas.
Some may remember, because of that letter I ended up taking a couple of hours of comp-time when WRR invited me to go down to the Myerson in Dallas (back in – oh – Dec. 07/Jan. 08) for a photo shoot for them. The pictures were going to be used for their new promotional material and stuff like that as well as for the new website they were having built.
Well, this week they made the switch over to their new, completely re-designed website. If you’ll go to:
http://www.wrr101.com
… you will see a white banner across the top of the screen. In the upper right, you’ll see it cycle through a number of pictures w/quotes – some of them music celebrities, some of them WRR announcers, and some of them listeners. If you’re very patient, eventually you’ll see my picture pop up. You can’t miss me, I’m the only one wearing a cowboy hat – gawd how they *loved* the hat.
Even though they have me listed as “Bob” and they can’t spell the word “vehicle” - still, that’s my 15 minutes of fame! Go me !!!
UPDATE: I shot off an e-mail to the station and got a response right back. The Marketing Manager was already tinkering with it, got it fixed, and got it in-place. Looks much better now. Nice catch WRR!
