NaNoWriMo and The Best Laid Plans

I am so disappointed in myself and not a little anxious.

Disappointment
I was conversing with one of the NaNoWriMo staff back in September and getting my account reactivated. I had every intention of getting Darke Elysium restarted again (I know, I know - you're not supposed to use something from the previous year ... but I hadn't gotten it very far along and I really like my idea, so much so that it continues to haunt me. Then freakin' work got busy, cloning databases. Then NaNoWriMo's regular "reminders" didn't get started until late. Then Oral surgery. So here it is the final few days of NaNoWriMo and it's a big bust. Maybe next year.

Anxious
The hard drive on my computer at home crashed and burned, so Darke Elysium (what there was of it, plus all my notes) may be lost. Damn-it-all. Now I have to see if I haven't stashed a copy of it away somewhere.

I'm so sorry. But don't worry, I'll be getting back to it. I noticed a post on the deLint mailing list where someone thought my idea had already been done in the form of Mad Maudlin by Rosemary Edgehill and Mercedes Lackey. I checked this book out, and it's nothing like my idea ... so I'm still safe.
