NaNoWriMo - The Jig Is Up
Nov. 1st, 2002 08:29 amI should have posted this earlier, but didn't think of it. Wednesday, the cat was let out of the bag. I had written a stick-note that said:
"NaNoWriMo Today?"
I tacked it up on my computer at home while Joyce was cooking dinner. When we'd finished eating, Joyce sat back down at my computer to play solitaire when suddenly she says, "What's this?" I had her surf the 'Net until she found the NaNoWriMo site and I explained what its purpose is. "That's interesting," she says, "What's the note for?" So I go over and hit the HOME button on the browser and !poof! - there at the bottom of the page is the NaNoWriMo 2002 Participant icon. Well Joyce walks over and gives me a hug and a kiss and says, "You know, I've been bugging you for almost 10 years that you should write again. It's about time!" - Support from my home-town fanclub. :-) I told her she should ask me every day if I'd NaNoWriMo'd that day.
No - I didn't start at midnight like everyone else. I won't start until this evening when I get home and have some quiet time to let this story of mine begin to unfold, though I've been seeing the beginning in my head for literally 2 years and it's becoming more and more vivid the closer today has gotten. It's fighting to get out, even though it has no ending. This *SO* ridiculous.
I am both excited and scared to death about this. Excited because it's something that's been on my mind for 2 years - scared because I will be opening myself up to, long time friends and acquaintances though you may be, strangers. I will take a page from
shadesong's notes and make "friend's only" entries here as I have the time - and the courage.
